Manchester City partners with Sony to build its own Metaverse for fans

Manchester City, the recent English Premier League winner, with Sony, has chosen to collaborate to build a Metaverse for the team’s supporters. The Japanese electronics company Sony announced at CES 2023 that its “Proof of Concept” would let spectators engage with a virtual replica of Etihad Stadium or participate in various online games.
Sony posted an official video exhibiting the immersive experiences on its YouTube account. Virtual avatars may be seen moving about the stadiums within the footage. Additionally, they can be seen twirling around the virtual stadium at designated areas.

Customers will be able to understand more about strategies, including the player’s location on the field, and experience the game from different perspectives due to the virtual reality experience. This technique might be a fantastic approach to fully comprehending the game. According to Sony, it installed numerous sensors on Manchester City players and recorded volumetric information and video for study.
The locations for the application’s release are still up for debate, even though it is scheduled for 2023.
This might be a fantastic new way for supporters to participate with their favorite sports teams and a chance to add more technology, including NFTs, to the unique Metaverse. Football teams, including Barcelona, Liverpool, and even Barcelona, have already entered the Metaverse and are now asking supporters to interact with them.
