Unity Empowers Gamers with Metamask Integration and Web3 Tools

The days of Web3 developers struggling with the lack of cooperation among players are soon over. Among the biggest video game development platforms, Unity has launched a new update in which it onboards a group of crypto platforms on its asset store.

The brand took it to Twitter and said, “It has come. Launching the MetaMask SDK in the Unity Asset Store will allow devs to connect their games to the wallet, enabling users to interact with web3-enabled features within the game itself. Get ready for a whole new level of gameplay!”

It will make the development easier with better accessibility of different Crypto platforms. Unity is working on increasing the accessibility further, and the latest release came on 28th Feb that brought along a new category page, “Decentralization.” Here developers interested in merging their games with decentralization will find everything they need.

Kieran Warwick, the co-founder of Illivium, said the idea that decentralized games are of “inferior quality” is holding back mainstream adoption of Web3 games, and it is a “major challenge” for us to go through.

The decentralization factor will help developers interested in modified ownership of in-game assets. It will allow developers to add more in-game assets to the games developed on Unity.

Why is Unity focused on onboarding decentralization to the gaming industry? Well, the answer is here. One of the most accountable analytics agencies, DappRadar, released a report stating that 48% of Blockchain activities in 2023 comprised gaming experiences.

A Blockchain analyst at DappRadar said that gaming is already a well-established industry. As Blockchain technology keeps evolving and gets adopted better, there will be “more adoption” in the community.

Unity has included the MetaMask wallet in the list of 13 platforms onboarded in this update to deal with transaction issues. Apart from that, Unity also provides extended support for Blockchain platforms, including Tezos and Solana.
