Fernando Lombos Fernandez

Fernando Lombos Fernandez was working as a senior developer at a Barcelona-based startup when he first encountered blockchain technology through a supply chain project proposal. The company's leadership was interested in exploring blockchain for shipment tracking and provenance verification, but no one on the team had the expertise to evaluate the technology properly.

Seeing an opportunity to both help his company and advance his career, Fernando enrolled in the Certified Blockchain Expert program at Blockchain Council. He chose the program for its coverage of both public and private blockchain platforms, which was critical for enterprise supply chain applications. The curriculum's modules on Hyperledger Fabric and enterprise architecture patterns proved especially relevant.

Fernando applied his learning directly to his company's pilot project, designing a blockchain-based shipment tracking system on Hyperledger Fabric. He created a proof of concept that demonstrated real-time visibility across multiple supply chain partners while maintaining data privacy. The pilot impressed both internal stakeholders and external logistics partners who participated in the trial.

The success of the pilot project established Fernando as the company's blockchain authority. When the CEO decided to pivot the company toward blockchain-powered logistics solutions, Fernando was the natural choice to lead the technical transformation. He was promoted to CTO within 18 months of earning his certification.

As CTO, Fernando now leads a team of 20 engineers building a platform that tracks shipments across 12 countries using a permissioned blockchain network. The platform has processed over 500,000 shipment records and serves clients in the food, pharmaceutical, and luxury goods industries. Fernando credits his Blockchain Council education with giving him the foundational knowledge and confidence to drive this transformation.
